This route follows stage 12 of the Moselsteig, connecting the historic village of Ürzig with the famous twin town of Traben-Trarbach on a classic high-altitude trail. Across exactly 15 kilometers (9.3 miles), this section offers an unusually high number of imposing panoramic views of the Moselle Valley. Cultural highlights include the grand patrician and half-timbered buildings in Ürzig and the architecturally significant Art Nouveau town of Traben-Trarbach. On Mont Royal, you will also walk through the remains of a massive fortress built by King Louis XIV at the end of the 17th century.
Overnight stays are available in the numerous hotels in Traben-Trarbach or in guesthouses in Ürzig; wild camping is prohibited.
