Varied dream loop Morscheider Grenzpfad, Rhineland-Palatinate. This dream loop is a certified premium hiking trail and, therefore, offers a wide variety. The Riveris dam, fantastic views over the Hunsrück, the Ruwer, and Moselle valleys, the Sommerau castle ruins, and Marienlay Castle are highlights that can be reached via narrow meadow and forest paths in mostly undisturbed tranquility. The hiking route passes former slate quarries and relics of traditional slate mining in Morscheid. The start is at the end of the village on the K65 exit Waldrach in the direction of Morscheid. The trail follows the Riveris valley up to the Riveris dam. There are several beautiful paths in the rocky terrain here. From there, the route goes over the mountain to the left past Bonerath. Marvelous panoramic views of several villages in the Ruwer Valley up to the Hunsrück can be expected. From there, the route heads towards Sommerau. On the way to Marienlay Castle, several old sandstone boundary stones can be found. Below Marienlay Castle, the route then heads back towards the finish.
