Popular loop trail in the Nassau Nature Park, Rhineland-Palatinate.
The LahnWeinStieg is a challenging loop trail through the vineyards of Obernhof and Weinaehr. Sturdy shoes, sure-footedness and a head for heights are a must - there are several almost alpine-looking rock sections that are overcome with ladders and steel cable safety devices. However, there are always alternative routes for these demanding sections, so that the route is also doable with dogs and children. Some stretches of the trail, including narrow ones, are lined with dense brambles, which is why long trousers are highly recommended.
Highlights of the hike:
- historic vineyards
- idyllic Lahn valley
