Start the tour at the train station in the tranquil town of Otterbach ( near Kaiserslautern. Before you go on the track, look at two interesting museums. The small Stellwerkmuseum ( is located right at the station and shows impressive mechanical systems, with cables and sash signals that were used before the conversion to electronic technology. Housed in a former Protestant church is the motorcycle museum (, which houses interesting exhibits of motor vehicle legend Heinz Luthringshauser. Now, climb to Schlossberg and hike towards Morlautern. Shortly before Morlautern you will meet the sandstone-walled Schlachtenturm, which commemorates the battle of 28-30 November 1793. Here the French revolutionary troops under General Hoché and the Prussian and Saxon troops under the Duke of Brunswick met for the Battle of Morlautern. The key to climb the tower is next door in the nursery against a deposit. Now walk through Morlautern. Then go slightly downhill along the houses of Erlenbach and immediately back up through the forest to the heights. There you will meet the Hinkelsteintour and follow it to Otterberg. At the Kneipp pool, you can take a rest and relax your feet. Over fields and meadows, you will eventually reach the PWV hut "In the Kingdom of Heaven" ( above Otterbach. Below the cottage there is a barbecue area and some boulder fields. In addition, the forest research trail "In the Kingdom of Heaven" starts. After these many explorations and experiences, hike back to Otterbach. Tip: In the YMCA house ( in Otterberg you can interrupt your tour for one night.
