Historic long-distance cycle path from Rhineland-Palatinate to Bavaria This route is the long-distance cycle route Deutscher Limes Radweg, which leads through four federal states. It is consistently marked with brown signs bearing the club's logo - a Limes tower surrounded by the letters "D" and "L". The aim of determining the route was to guide the cyclists along well-developed cycle paths and forest paths along the Limes road. Like the German Limes Road, the cycle path also follows the Upper German-Rhaetian Limes and connects numerous sights from Roman times. Cyclists with a passion for history can look forward to reconstructed Limes watchtowers, preserved and partially reconstructed forts, protective structures over the ruins of Roman baths, fortifications with ramparts, moats and palisades and, of course, impressive museums. There are attractive towns along the route as well as well-known health and recreation centers along the way. In addition, the German Limes cycle path also offers a lot of variety in terms of landscape. Beginning on the Rhine, it leads through the Rhein-Westerwald nature park, through the Lahn valley, the Nassauer Land, the Rheingau-Taunus district, the Hochtaunus nature park, the Wetterau, the Main valley, the Odenwald, the Swabian-Franconian forest, the Swabian Alb, the New Franconian Lake District, the Altmühltal Nature Park to the Danube. Since the Romans did not think of today's cyclists when they built it, there are also some hilly sections that will challenge cyclists' sporting ambitions. The effort is then rewarded by the cultural diversity that the cycle path has to offer. The entire route can be divided into stages with any intermediate stops. Many places offer good accommodation and sophisticated gastronomy.
