Ahrtal - Sahrbachtal - Kesselingertal

Note: The total ascent recorded with a barometric altimeter (Ciclomaster CM434) was 1590 meters on this route. The route begins in Ahrweiler in the Ahr valley. It first follows the asphalt bike path along the Ahr and the associated railway line. In Rech it leaves the cycle path and follows the main road to Altenahr, a very touristy village. Note that on the weekends there can be a lot going on on the main road to Altenahr. From Altenahr, the path follows the cycle path along the Ahr again, but this part of the cycle path is smaller and has more curves (watch out for tourists on the camping site for walks on the cycle path). In Kreuzberg the path leaves the cycle path (and also the Ahr valley) and leads into the Sahrbach valley. The first ascent leads with 5 hairpin bends from the Sahrbachtal towards Krälingen. The descent to Kirchsahr is wonderful. The following ascent leads from Binzenbach towards Plittersdorf (4 hairpin bends). The descent to Liers is via 6 hairpin bends. Then the path follows the river Ahr again via the cycle path along the river, the cycle path is now quite wide and very well paved. After Dümpelfeld the route leads one kilometer over the main road. Then turn left and start the long ascent (6.5 kilometers) via Lückenbach on a very quiet road to Reifferscheid. The rates of increase reach a maximum of 10%. The route leads via Rodder to Adenau, a small, beautiful town where there can be a lot going on at racing events on the neighboring Nürburgring. A 5.5 kilometer ascent takes you to Hochacht (the last hundred meters with an increase rate of 12%), followed by a 10 kilometer descent to Kesseling. This is followed by two moderate climbs and then the last 8 km long descent to Ahrweiler.
