This is the eighth stage of the varied WestfalenWanderWeg, which leads 216 km from Hattingen through the southern Ruhr area, the Paderborn region and the foothills of the Sauerland to Altenbeken in the Teutoburg Forest / Eggegebirge nature park.
The eighth stage begins in the mountain town of Rüthen and ends in Büren. After exploring the historic town center of Rüthen, which is well worth seeing, it goes through the Rißneital and the Aschental towards the northeast. There are buses in both Rüthen and Büren.
