Fantastic circular route in the Sauerland mountains, North Rhine-Westphalia.
This route is a certified premium hiking trail and is part of the Rothaarsteig trails. Start is at the parking lot at the ski hut in Westfeld. It goes up to what is probably the most famous of all Sauerland mountains via the Kahler Asten Steig. Sturdy shoes are highly recommended in order to enjoy the magnificent mountain world unscathed. This ascent has it all, but also rewards with great views of many gorges and an idyllic stream as a companion for a while. Fantastic views of the land of 1000 mountains can be enjoyed at the summit. With a bit of luck it is possible to even see as far as the Brocken and Feldberg! Refreshments are possible on the way.
