Neanderlandsteig Etappe 11: von Erkrath nach Hilden

Stage 11 of the Neanderlandsteig, North Rhine-Westphalia. From the starting point in Erkrath, you first cross the railroad tracks to reach the Düsselauen. In this small forest, the trail climbs a few meters before reaching wide fields and the Römerweg. The latter leads back into the forest. The route continues through Unterbach and along the Siebenbrückenweg through the edges of the Forst Eller nature reserve. The Unterbacher See lake that follows is visually stunning, but unfortunately it gets a little noisy here. The highway runs along the other side of the lake, which you later cross via a bridge. Next you come to the Elbsee and reach your destination via a narrow strip of land that separates it from the neighboring Menzelsee. This is located in the far north-west of Hilden, right on the edge of the Hassel Forest.
