Cross-border hike to the High Fens (DEU/BEL).
The High Fens in Belgium is certainly one of the most beautiful hiking areas and delights nature lovers with its vast meadows, forests and moorland landscapes. This hike takes place partly in Germany and partly in Belgium. This route leads along wooden bridges in the Venn as well as the quartz stone "Kaiser Karls Bett" ("Emperor Karl's Bed") and the Steeling, the highest elevation here. A small picnic can be organised at Emperor Karl's Bed. Legend has it that Emperor Karl was once forced to spend the night on this stone after getting lost on a hunting trip. Today there are benches and a shelter here. Tip: It is possible to avoid the boggy section before the Brackven by following the road to the border and then following the path with a red bar on the left as a shortcut.
There are refreshment stops at the starting point and further on in Mützenich.
