Weserbergland-Weg Stage 13: Rinteln - Porta Westfalica

This route follows stage 13 of the Weserbergland-Weg, connecting the timber-framed town of Rinteln with the final destination of Porta Westfalica on a crowning final section. The hike starts in the historic center of Rinteln and leads up to the Wülpker Egge, near which the Kleinenbremen visitor mine offers insights into regional mining history. Crossing the state border into North Rhine-Westphalia, the trail reaches the "Porta Kanzel" viewpoint, offering a stunning look at the goal: the monumental Emperor William Monument, where the Weser River breaks through the mountains into the North German Plain. Overnight stays are available in the numerous hotels in Rinteln's old town or in Porta Westfalica; wild camping is prohibited. Potable water should be refilled in Rinteln for the final ascent.
