Weserbergland-Weg Stage 11: Hameln - Rohdental

This route follows stage 11 of the Weserbergland-Weg, connecting Rohrsen (Hamelin) with Rohdental on the longest and most spectacular section of the entire trail. The hike leads through the forested Süntel hills up to the Hohe Egge and the Süntel Tower before reaching the Hohenstein Cliffs—a legendary viewpoint situated directly on striking rock formations. Passing the Baxmannbaude (open seasonally on weekends) and Lower Saxony's only natural waterfall, the path continues past the Schillat Cave over the Moosköpfe to the destination of Rohdental; please note the current detour near the Heisenküche due to a damaged bridge. Overnight stays are available in the numerous hotels in Hamelin or guesthouses in Rohdental; wild camping is prohibited. Breaks are recommended at the Süntel Tower or Baxmannbaude, though sufficient potable water must be carried given the stage length of 27 km (16.8 miles).
