Culturally rich loop trail in the Harz Nature Park, Lower Saxony.
A beautiful hike through the Harz Mountains from Clausthal to Altenau and back. The path mostly leads along the Upper Harz water shelf, past aqueducts and smaller reservoirs. As early as the 16th century, the pumps and means of transport used in the Harz mining industry were powered by the ingenious water transport system. Today the Upper Harz water management is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After Altenau you can also take a shortcut on the "Healthy Climate Path". All in all, a very beautiful environment with a few inclines and lots of blackberries, wild strawberries and blueberries. There are some places to stop for refreshments along the way, so that you can take a break.
