Herrmannsweg Stage 4: Bad Iburg - Borgholzhausen

This route is stage 4 of the Hermannsweg, a long-distance trail through the Teutoburger Wald. This specific section begins in the center of Bad Iburg and travels east to end in the honey-cake town of Borgholzhausen. Starting at the historic Schloss Iburg, the path leads through the Freeden nature reserve and past the Kleiner and Großer Freeden peaks. Hikers cross the A33 via a bridge near Hankenberge before facing a steep descent into the Noller Schlucht at Dissen. The route then climbs back onto the narrow, undulating ridge, offering constant views of the surrounding lowlands. Overnight stays are found in guesthouses in Bad Iburg or Borgholzhausen; wild camping is strictly prohibited.
