Sixth stage of the varied long-distance hiking trail Harzer BaudenSteig in the Harz Mountains in Lower Saxony.
This last stage of the popular Harzer BaudenSteig long-distance hiking trail leads from Wieda to Walkenried. The route leads along beautiful forest and field paths through the former GDR border area. On the way you will come across numerous cultural and historical sights. Thus, among other things, the mining of red iron stone and iron and steel works were the decisive economic factors in the region until the end of the 19th century. In Zorge you will find a small spirits factory - the "Hammerschmiede". Since 2002, single malt whiskey, among other things, has been distilled here. The hike ends at Walkenried Monastery with its innovative monastery museum.
