The Alte Harzstraße (Old Harz Road) is a formerly much-used transport route from Goslar to Osterode. It used to lead through rough and uninhabited terrain, but today it is a wonderful place to hike. The route suggested here from Hahnenklee, past the Bocksberg and into the historic old town of Goslar, follows the course of the Old Harz Road.
The hike begins in Hahnenklee at the parking lot opposite the Gustav-Adolf-Stabkirche, a church built in the Nordic style. There are particularly great views at the Windsattel near the Thomas-Martins-Berg, the highest point of the road.
The route is accessible by bus and train.
