Von Giersdorf nach Asbach

A short tour along the Breitenbach and Asbach brooks and along the Fulda and Geis rivers. You can also start the route wonderfully from Bad Hersfeld. It goes along the small Breitenbach, first over small fields that merge into forest meadows and finally flow into the forest. The path climbs steadily but not too steeply. Once on the ridge, leave the Hählgans farm with its idyllic location as well as the Stellerskuppe a few hundred meters from the path and soon cross the "Kurz Hessen" road between Bad Hersfeld and Kirchheim (also known locally as the "Lange Heide") . Then it's actually only downhill through a beautiful, varied forest with quite different corners. It is an alternation between denser forest and clearings, between deciduous and coniferous forest. Soon the path hugs the Asbach and follows the stream to the village of the same name. Until then, forest meadows alternate with originally swampy sections of the stream. After crossing under the mighty motorway bridge (A4), the forest opens up again and you finally reach Asbach over pastures and fields. There you meet the Fulda cycle path and follow it directly on the river to Bad Hersfeld.
