There is pure nature on the Christenberg extra tour, a loop in the Burgwald-Ederbergland hiking fairytale. Numerous ancient legends and fairytales surround the castle forest, which lies between Marburg in the south and the Kellerwald forest in the north. Together they form the largest contiguous forest area in Hesse. The "2004 Hiking Trail" of the Year is located in the Christenberg nature reserve and is an excellent route for exploring this area. Quiet moss and moor valleys lead to spectacular viewpoints. In the middle of the forest there is a Romanesque church, which once served as the model for the illustration of the Cinderella fairy tale, as well as the sexton's house, which was the inspiration for the witch's cottage in the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel.
