Gruendauer hiking trails Lieblos - Milan

The shortest of the loveless hiking trails is marked with a kite. The four kilometers around the Herzberg can be covered in about an hour. From the starting point on Sommerbergstrasse, the path climbs up to the "Fahrstrasse" at the edge of the forest, together with fox, woodpecker, butterfly and owl. There, the Milan turns right as the only path and leads along the edge of the forest to the former forest swimming pool in Roth. At the lower end of the swimming pool area, turn right onto the “Auf dem Herzberg” road and, together with the butterfly path below the “Paradies” restaurant, back to Lieblos. Here you can still see the remains of some of the walls above in the forest that terraced the local vineyard. Until the end of the 19th century, almost the entire Herzberg was a vineyard. Only the introduced phylloxera put an end to this. The former Lieblos quarry is also located on the Herzberg. Until the 1950s it was used for large celebrations and even housed an open-air stage. After some stones fell due to frost damage, which destroyed the changing rooms, among other things, the quarry was closed to the public. A little more through the place and you have reached the starting point again.
