The circular route begins at the museum or the train station and leads through the Edertal to the mouth of the Schwalm. You have beautiful views of the Altenburg and from Hopfenberg into the Edertal, Felsberg and the Heiligenberg ruins. Near the mouth of the Schwalm, when you cross the embankment, you come to the site of the Rhünda skull. A little further you can rest in the Hopfenberghütte, after which it goes back to Gensungen. On the way you will come across information boards that tell interesting things about the history of the place. The finds can be viewed in the museum, and voluntary guided hikes are offered every 1st Saturday (advance notice at 05662 502-31 or ag-museum-gensungen@t-online.de).
