Start is at the train station Hamburg-Poppenbüttel. It goes in a westerly direction to the Alster. You cross the Alster hiking trail and then follow it for a while. A very nice path directly along the river, which is followed by the large lock pond. At the Hohenbuchenpark, the water divides and continues to flow below as the Alster, dividing into three Hohenbuchenteiche above and protectively enclosing the beautiful park like an island. You get in the direction of Fischkamp until just before the Timmer Moor. Then it goes through Hamburg-Sasel.
