Wanderung rund um den Fasanenwald

Popular circular hiking trail near Neuzelle, Brandenburg. Only a few meters from the monastery is this small piece of forest, which was once planted and cared for by the monks with various trees. It forms a strong contrast to the table-level floodplains and gives the impression of being in the low mountain range. The small forest is a popular destination for those seeking relaxation in all seasons. Small paths lead to the heart, star or moon mountain. But beware, sometimes they are also very quaint and you have to overcome one or the other tree. In spring, the carpet of flowers from the many early bloomers spreads out on the sparse forest floor under the deciduous trees that are still in bud, in summer the dense canopy of leaves offers pleasant shade, in autumn the dry, rustling leaves cover the ground and when there is snow in winter, one believes oneself transferred to the low mountain range. Winding paths and steep slopes make this hike an experience. Here the forest is not swept, but natural as Mother Nature has created it over many years. The tour starts at the south entrance of the monastery (Evangelical Church of the Holy Cross). Visits to the Neuzelle monastery (the baroque miracle in Brandenburg) are possible. The complex has been completely preserved and the Catholic Church of St. Mary, the Protestant Church of the Holy Cross, the cloister with the monastery museum, the "Heavenly Theater" museum and the baroque garden can be visited. Outside the complex is the Neuzeller monastery brewery and the "Strohhaus Neuzelle" museum. There are various restaurants and accommodation options in the resort of Neuzelle.
