Sanssouci Park: fountain, Sicilian garden and palace

A varied walk in Sanssouci Park, Potsdam On this route you can enjoy the beautiful view of parts of the park and the historic buildings of the famous Sanssouci Palace. The route is accessible and is assigned to difficulty level 2-3. It consists of asphalt paths, fine gravel, paving and sometimes finer sand and small pavement. There are gradients of more than 7% in some places. The lane from "Am Grünen Gitter" is paved and used by motorized vehicles and cyclists; it is recommended to use the paved sidewalk on the right in the walking direction. Alternatively, the path through the Marly Gardens can be used, but this is only recommended in dry weather. The path that leads to the terrace of the castle is paved; however, it has some bumps. After passing the Schinkel Bridge, the paths are made of fine gravel. Be careful at the Ökonomieweg / Am Grünen Gitter junction - there is a lot of traffic here and a very quiet electric vehicle is on the road in the summer months. Along the Sicilian Garden and in the direction of the Neue Kammern Castle, as well as from the Musenrondell to the visitor center, there are sections with more than 7% incline and sandy, partly paved surfaces - the help of an accompanying person is recommended here. The section can also be bypassed by going back to Luisenplatz and from there by bus 695 to the Sanssouci Palace stop. To get to the tour of the Kammern Castle, you can ring the bell. The path towards the visitor center and Sanssouci Palace is partly paved and uneven and has a gradient of more than 7%. There are accessible toilets at the crossroads Affengang / Am Grünen Gitter and at the historic mill at the information point. There is also an accessible restaurant there. Seating can be found at the crossroads of Affengang / Am Grünen Gitter, at the Great Fountain, in the direction of the New Kammern, at the Sicilian Garden and at the visitor center at the historic mill. Parking is available in the Luisenplatz underground car park. A nearby bus and tram stop is the "Luisenplatz Nord / Park Sanssouci" stop. From there you can take the avenue to the "Grünes Gitter" entrance - if you use a wheelchair, walker or other mobility equipment, you should use the middle gate as the entrance. There is an accessible bus stop (Bus 695) at the visitor center with a connection to Potsdam Central Station. Folding wheelchairs can be borrowed from the visitor center. People with impaired vision can use a cane to orient themselves along the edges of the path to the Schinkel Bridge; after the bridge you should stay in the middle as the banks are not bordered by railings. The bridge railing is also very low and does not start immediately when you step onto the bridge. Visiting the Great Fountain is not recommended for people with impaired vision, as the barriers around the pools and sculptures are very low.
