Berlin Wall Trail Stage 10: Griebnitzsee - Wannsee

This route follows stage 10 of the Berlin Wall Trail, connecting Griebnitzsee station with the historic Wannsee on a scenically and historically fascinating section. The hike runs almost continuously along the waterfront—first following the shores of Griebnitzsee lake and then continuing along the Havel River. Along the way, you will pass through Klein Glienicke, a former GDR enclave on the West Berlin side that was once completely enclosed by border walls. A major highlight along the route is the famous Glienicke Bridge: well-known as the "Bridge of Spies" during the Cold War where secret agents were exchanged, and as one of the first checkpoints to open after the fall of the Wall, it is well worth a short detour. Accommodations and refreshments like cozy restaurants and scenic lakeside cafés are widely available in Potsdam-Babelsberg and around Wannsee; wild camping is prohibited. Start and finish lines are perfectly connected to public transit via the Griebnitzsee and Wannsee stations (both offering S-Bahn and regional train access); schedules at https://www.vbb.de.
