Via Claudia Augusta

Demanding cycle route to cross the Alps along a historic Roman road from Donauwörth, Bavaria to Venice, Italy. The starting point can be reached by train (Donauwörth station). The return journey can be made by train (Venice-Munich) or by plane. The cycle path starts in Donauwörth and leads - continuously uphill - on the German section near the river Lech through Augsburg and past the Forggensee. Although the section of the route in the Austrian and Italian Alps mostly leads through alpine valleys, it has a number of demanding daily stages on which many meters in altitude are collected. After leaving the Alps, the last section invites you to roll out for several days in the Veneto region in northern Italy.
