Multi-faceted, certified premium hiking trail in the Swabian Danube Valley, Bavaria.
A relaxed hike that is best done in several stages. In 2020, the Danube Forest hiking trail made it to second place in the vote for “Germany's most beautiful hiking trail”. You always follow the Danube and get to know its course between Günzburg, Dillingen and Höchstädt. It goes through alluvial forests and open meadows, in which the river shows itself in very different forms and the corresponding flora and fauna can be discovered. There are restaurants and places to stay overnight in the cities. Those who hike in summer should have an insect repellent with them; the hiking trail is not intended for winter.
