Wonderful MTB tour in the Franconian Switzerland Nature Park.
The MTB route between Pegnitz and Pottenstein is considered one of the most beautiful routes in Germany. The loop starts at the source of the Pegnitz. The ride begins comfortably on the tarmac to the Schlossbergfestwiese, from where the gradient increases and the trails lead through single trails characterized by mixed forest. Up it goes to the Hollenberg. Once the route reaches the foot, a short carrying passage begins, past the dwarf cave to the Hollenberg ruins. Both highlights are well worth a detour.
The route now leads up and down again and again through the fantastic landscape of beautiful Franconian Switzerland. Some sections are rooty and rocky, and from the highest points of the tour there are impressive views over the mountain ranges of Franconian Switzerland to the west and north to the Ochsenkopf and Schneeberg in the Fichtelgebige.
The towns of Pottenstein and Buchau offer refreshment stops.
