Maximiliansweg Stage 1: Lindau - Wolfurt

This route follows stage 1 of the Maximiliansweg, a long-distance trail through Germany and Austria, beginning in Lindau and ending in Wolfurt. The path departs from the historic island town of Lindau and follows the shores of Lake Constance before crossing into Austria toward Bregenz. It winds along the lakeside promenades and turns inland to track the peaceful banks of the Bregenzer Ach river until reaching Wolfurt. Overnight stays are accommodated in local hotels and urban guesthouses in Lindau, Bregenz, or Wolfurt; wild camping is strictly prohibited along this international border section. Hikers must carry a reliable water filter to treat surface water from natural streams between the towns.
