A great mountain hike that is also possible with slightly older children. The path is mostly easy to walk on, sure-footedness is recommended. The start is in Maria Gern, where there are car parks and the "Maria Gern" bus stop.
The Marxenhöhe is located at the foot of the Kneifelspitze. From here, magnificent views of Berchtesgaden, the Watzmann and the surrounding mountains can be enjoyed. There are several benches to take a break.
A refreshment stop is possible near the Kneifelspitze. The Kneifelspitze mountain restaurant is also located here. It is open between March and October. In autumn and winter, opening times depend on the weather (see "Tips").
