This route follows stage 4 of the certified "Jurasteig" premium trail, connecting Pielenhofen with Kallmünz on a scenically and culturally outstanding section. The hike begins in Pielenhofen, crosses the Naab River, and immediately leads along picturesque forest paths through the rocky pine and beech woods of the Naabrangen nature forest reserve. After a short, steep climb above Kleinduggendorf, hikers are rewarded with beautiful views of Duggendorf before the trail continues through diverse mixed forests toward Heitzenhofen. On the other side of the river, the path ascends through an open landscape of butterfly-rich meadows up to the high plateau and the small village of Dallackenried.
