Jurasteig Stage 11: Holnstein - Dietfurt

This route follows stage 11 of the certified "Jurasteig" premium trail, connecting Holnstein with Dietfurt an der Altmühl on an idyllic and water-rich section. The hike starts in the spring-rich village of Holnstein—dominated by the prominent Regens-Wagner complex perched on a rock—and leads through shaded beech forests up onto the high plateau. Skirting the slopes of the Staufersbucher Berg, the trail guides you toward the Erbmühle mill, where you might spot free-roaming water buffalo taking a dip in the river. Following the gently gurgling banks of the White Laber River, you will reach Unterbürg, where a stone spring artwork welcomes hikers. Crossing a picturesque natural stone bridge, the route continues along flat paths and a final hillside forest directly into the charming "Seven Valleys Town" (Siebentälerstadt) of Dietfurt. Cozy refreshments and excellent accommodations are available at the Erbmühle and in great variety within the historic center of Dietfurt; wild camping is prohibited.
