A really great tour, but it is categorised as T3 or T3+ in places - so it should only be undertaken with appropriate experience in alpine hiking. Sure-footedness and a head for heights are essential. In places, there are only 50-100 cm in width, with steep descents to the right and left.
It is possible to park in the valley and to take the Wiedhagbahn or the Iselerbahn (for a fee) to the top.
In many places, the trail leads over scree, so sturdy footwear and trekking poles are a must. There are some very narrow sections and the Schmugglersteig trail has climbing aids such as ropes and steps for the steep sections.
