Hirschenstein und Vogelsang ab Metten (MTB)

A varied mountain bike tour in the Bavarian Forest Nature Park, Bavaria This tour is very demanding because of the varied elevation profile, but absolutely worthwhile. The MTB tour begins in beautiful Metten and leads over Egg Castle, Hofstetten, Amtsfleck and the steam saw up to the Schuhfleck. This section is followed by the cross-country ski trail and you come from the north to the Hirschstein, the highest point of the tour at just under 1,100 m. From the summit you follow a very nice trail back to Schuhfleck. This trail is very difficult and blocked at the beginning with S2 / S3. At the Schuhfleck it goes up a forest path to be able to drive the direct way to Kalkeck. The next trail is already waiting here, which turns into a gravel road halfway down to Kalteck. From Kalteck it goes back up to the Regensburger Stein (almost 1,000 m above sea level) and further in the direction of Vogelsang (short forest trail to the Holzhackerhütte). You pass a meadow and turn into hiking trail no.8 in the forest. This trail leads over woody, rooted and stony terrain down to Oberhirschberg and is sometimes difficult to see. There is another ascent to Faßlehen and briefly towards Leithen and Hilling. The path leads on a beautiful route to just behind Schneiderried, before the trail becomes a fairly wide forest path that is almost 1 km long due to logging work. Then you can enjoy beautiful trails again before you get back to the starting point. Then you can end the day with delicious food in the monastery inn in Metten. Attention: One of the trails is also used as a hiking trail - please be considerate of hikers!
