Franconian Mountain Trail Stage 11: Nagel - Fichtelberg

This route is stage 11 of the Fränkischer Gebirgsweg, a long-distance trail in Bavaria; this specific segment starts in the herb village of Nagel and ends in Fichtelberg. The path leads from the Nageler See through the high forests of the Fichtel Mountains toward the impressive granite formations of the southern massif. The itinerary climbs toward the Seehaus and the summit of the Nußhardt with its massive boulder fields, offering spectacular views of the Schneeberg and Ochsenkopf, before descending into the winter sports resort of Fichtelberg. Overnight stays are available in hotels, traditional guesthouses, and specialized hikers' accommodations in Nagel or Fichtelberg, as wild camping is strictly prohibited throughout the Fichtelgebirge Nature Park. Water is reliably available in the towns at each end and at the Seehaus mountain hut, but a sufficient supply should be carried for the demanding climbs across the rocky ridges.
