This is the first stage of the long-distance hiking trail Fränkischer Dünenweg, which runs from Altdorf through the impressive dune landscapes of the Nürnberger Land.
The first stage of the Franconian Dune Trail starts in Altdorf near Nuremberg and ends in Weißenbrunn. On this hike you can experience the nature of the Nuremberg region with all its facets: you can enjoy the wonderful, partly wooded dune landscapes that were created during the Ice Age, and you pass the Upper and Lower Egelsee lakes. There are places to stay overnight and restaurants at the stage destination. The Obere and Untere Egelsee are recommended for a break in between - there are no restaurants along the route.
