Danube Cycle Path Stage 1 South Bank: Passau - Schlögen

First stage of the long-distance cycle route along the Danube in Austria. The first stage combines beautiful landscapes along the Danube with some great cultural and historical highlights. DREI_FLÜSSE_STADT Passau at the confluence of the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers is the starting point of the first stage of the Danube Cycle Path through Upper Austria. Passau, also known as the "Bavarian Venice", has some great sights to explore. Of particular interest is the baroque old town, the prince-bishop's residence with the museum at the cathedral and St. Stephen's Cathedral with the largest cathedral organ in the world. The varied route continues along the banks of the Danube. The view of Krämpelstein Castle, perched high above the Danube on a rock, is particularly beautiful. The route continues to charming Engelhartszell, where the "Mini-Danube water experience" is a great highlight of the stage for children. Shortly before the route reaches Schlögen, the medieval castle ruins of Haichenbach, a mountain ridge around which the famous "Schlögener Donauschlinge" bends, are impressive.
