The circular route in the Swabian Alb biosphere reserve can be reached by public transport via Münsingen railway station. The hiking trail is characterised above all by its beautiful nature and the many wildflowers. It passes through juniper meadows, orchid-rich calcareous grasslands and rugged limestone cliffs with crevice vegetation. The ascent to Schattenberg requires some surefootedness, but hikers with a head for heights will enjoy the exclusive view of Bichishausen and the Große Lautertal valley from Schachenblick.
