This route is a certified premium hiking trail and is one of the Black Forest gourmet trails. Although the trail can be walked in both directions, it is recommended to walk anti-clockwise. It first leads through beautiful forests up to the small Spießhorn, wherenmarvellous views over the Alps can be enjoyed. A special highlight is the "Viscope" waiting here. The intelligent telescope automatically displays the names of the peaks! The Krunkelbachhütte, which is halfway along the route, provides good refreshments. It is open daily and has no days off.
In summer in particular, the typical Hinterwald cattle can be seen grazing along the route. The smallest breed of cattle in Germany is represented here in large numbers.
