Demanding and varied loop in the Black Forest near Feldberg.
This idyllic loop starts at the Naturfreundehaus in Feldberg and leads along the beautiful and varied Alpine Trail up to Feldberg. The "Alpine Steig" is no longer listed on many maps as the path was abandoned by the Black Forest Association years ago. Since then, it has neither been signposted nor maintained - but it can be walked on. There are a few trees across the path and a few climbing passages to overcome. But for the effort, there are marvellous views of the Alps to be seen.
A visit to the observation tower on the Feldberg is recommended. A fantastic panoramic view of the Eiger, the Zugspitze and the Mont Blanc massif can be enjoyed on a clear day from its viewing platform.
