No, this is not the icy north. This route leads to the Czech North Cape, the northernmost point of the Czech Republic in the Saxon Switzerland, more precisely, in the Schluckenauer Zipfel. Here the sandstone of the Elbsandsteingebirge have already passed into the granite rocks of Upper Lusatia.

Accessible by train and bus

Promising snowshoe hike in Saxony, Germany. From the parking lot it goes over the rails and into the forest at Davidsberg. Along Linzberg and Goldberg and past the old quarry, it goes south past Steinigtwolmsdorf and the German-Czech border. Continue through the forest to the Prinz-Friedrich-August-Höhe. Here you can take a well-deserved break and stop off at the mountain inn before heading back.

A beautiful day hike awaits you here, starting from Steinigttwolmsdorf in the Eastern Ore Mountains. From the village it goes up to the German - Czech border. The border path here is also the Upper Lusatian mountain hiking path. The southernmost point of the Bautzen district is reached at the boundary stone 17/23. It goes back on the Czech side through the Schluckenauer Winkel and on over the border back to the starting point. A nice hiking tour, hiking sticks and good shoes are recommended.
