Located in northern Vietnam, Cát Bà National Park is known for its endangered inhabitant, the Cát Bà langur (white-headed langur). The Cát Bà langur is one of the rarest primate species in Asia and the world. There is only an estimate of less than 70 langurs left! Conservation efforts are being put to place to protect the last remaining langurs. Besides the langurs, Cát Bà is also home to a variety of flora and fauna. There are over 1,500 plant species, some which can be used for medicinal properties. Visitors can expect to see deer, civets, and squirrels as they are quite abundant in the park.

The trek is divided into two sections: from the headquarters to the Frog Pond and from the Frog Pond to Viet Hai Village.
To leave the village and return to town, take the village road southeast to the tourist wharf. You can hire a bicycle for a one-way trip to the wharf or buy a seat on a shuttle minivan ride. The boat ride back to town has a cost, and it can fit a maximum of ten passengers. The boat must be booked ahead of time.
