Best trails in Tresticklan National Park
Tresticklan National Park, established in 1996, aims to preserve a rift valley landscape characterized by extensive natural forests and minimal cultural impact. The park covers 2 897 hectares, including 2 711 hectares of land, and is one of the few remaining large natural forest areas in Sweden, outside of Norrbotten and the mountain region. The park's unspoiled nature and size give it a significant value.
Much of the forest in Tresticklan National Park resulted from a forest fire in the 1830s. Historically, fires were a natural occurrence in such forests, and the pines were adapted to survive them. As a result, the park contains pine trees that are 250 years old or more, demonstrating the resilience and history of the area's ecosystem.
