Best trails in Store Mosse National Park
Store Mosse National Park, located in Småland, is the largest largely untouched area of raised bog south of Lapland. The peat layer in the bog has been growing for at least 8,000 years and consists mainly of plant parts from white moss. The park also contains forested dunes, known as cliffs, which form a system of islands and ridges in the open bog.
Designated as an internationally valuable wetland under the Ramsar Convention, the Store Mosse National Park is important for its extensive marsh and fen areas and as a breeding and resting place for wetland birds.
Kävsjön, a famous bird lake in the middle of the park, was protected as a temporary nature reserve in 1965, paving the way for the area to become a national park in 1982. Cultural landscapes, such as old farms and peat pits, are scattered throughout the bog complex, showcasing the region's history and heritage.

Trail reviews for Store Mosse National Park
Beautiful hike in Store Mosse National Park, through soothing wilderness . The trail is easy, generally flat and accessible, but some sections with wooden footbridges can be a little tricky for people with balance problems, especially in wet weather. The landscapes alternate between open forests, open peat bogs and tranquil lakes, with a wealth of wildlife: rare birds, elk tracks, and impressive silence. A beautiful immersion in one of the largest wetlands in southern Sweden.
