Best trails in Oze National Park
Oze National Park is home to Mt. Hiuchigatake, the highest mountain in the area and the park's symbol. From the top of Mt. Hiuchigatake, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the rich natural environment of Oze Lake and Ozegahara. Be sure to check out the hiking trails located in the Obou area, where you can take a leisurely stroll through the beautiful Oze. Located on the east side of the park, Oze Lake offers a magnificent view of Mt. Hiuchigatake. Oze is also known for being home to over 30 species of dragonflies. The Hacho Dragonfly, which lives here, is the smallest dragonfly in Japan, measuring just 2 centimeters in length.
In addition, Oze National Park is full of natural attractions such as Sanjo Falls, Mt. Kasagatake, Mt. Taishaku towering over Mt. Okura Takayama, and Mt. Tashiro, where rare plants such as Osabagusa live. Don't miss the festivals on May 12th and August 18th and the "Hiedaga Kabuki" held in Hiedaga Village on the first Saturday of September.
