This is a trail to Ein Avdat (עין עבדת) along the river Tzin. Nahal Tzin flows through a vast and spectacular desert canyon. Three small springs flow year round and feed into the Tzin river and create a magical oasis. Ein Avdat is sometimes referred to as the kingdom of eagles and ibex. In the winter and transition seasons there is a risk of flash floods and other weather phenomena in this area. Ensure to check local weather on the day of your trip to stay up to date.

This is a short yet scenic route, from campsite to campsite, which starts at the Serpentinot Campsite and proceeds along the Zin River until reaching the Keren Akev Campsite (הסרפנטינות לקרן עקב דרך נחל צין). The route itself is fairly flat and tends to have many 4x4 vehicles driving along the way.

#6 - Sde Boker to Ein Akev via Maale Tzin

This loop trail starts at Sde Boker and continues through Maale Zin to Ein Akev. Climb up back to Sde Boker through the Serpentinot (שדה בוקר לעין עקב דרך מעלה צין. This desert route is accessible year round, however, it is recommended to be avoided during the summer due to the desert heat. Make sure to pack plenty of water and be prepared for difficult ascents in the heat.

This large loop trail begins in the Serpintinot campground and proceeds along Nahal Zin, Ein Akev and Maale Zin (נחל צין, עין עקב ומעלה צין מעגלי). Begin this route south of Midreshet Ben Gurion, at the campsite, and head south-east through Gan HaPasalim National Park, which means Garden of Statues. Proceed through scenic Hod Akev and the nearby campsite before returning to the start. The proximity of campsites along this trail makes it ideal for a multi-day backpacking trip through the desert.
