Best trails in Sultanpur National Park
Sultan National Park is one of the deemed Ramsar site. it has a variety of birds that visit this location and is one of the favorite locations near Delhi for all the birding enthusiasts. Species like the hoopoe, paddy field pipit, purple sunbird, little cormorant are some of the common birds that reside over here whereas Siberian cranes, greater flamingo, ruff, black-winged stilt, common teal, etc are some of the migratory birds that visit this park. This park is home to more than 250 species of birds.
Although birds are not the only things interesting about this park, it has a plethora of history associated with it as well. It was named after Sultan Singh Chauhan who is the great great-grandnephew of king Prithviraj Chauhan. Raja Sultan Singh Chauhan in 1474 won this from Silar Muslims. Silar Muslims come from the lines of Oghuz Turks originating from the invader Mahmud of Ghazni. Initially, Sultanpur was known as the center of salt production.
