Best trails in Helvetinjärvi National Park
Helvetinjärvi National Park is located in Pirkanmaa, near Ruovesi. The park contains gorges formed millions of years ago, of which Helvetinkolu is the park's symbol. The park also contains old-growth forests, home to species such as the flying squirrel, the Eurasian three-toed woodpecker, and the Red-breasted flycatcher. Endangered species of mosses, lichens, and polypores can also be found in the park.
The park has several campfire sites, a few cooking shelters, and the Helvetinkolu day-use hut. Overnight camping is permitted in the park's six camping areas or the Hiedenmaja rental hut.
Helvetinjärvi can be reached by bus from Tampere in summer. You can get to Tampere by train. There is a caravan park at Haukanhiedas.
