Best trails in Las Palmas de Cocalán National Park
Palmas de Cocalán National Park was created in 1972 and re-demarcated in 1989, with its current area of 3709 hectares, which are privately owned.
It stands out for its high concentration of Chilean palms, many of them millenary, an endemic and slow-growing species. This population is considered the southernmost of its kind in the world. There are approximately 3500 specimens, currently protected through a CONAF management plan.
The park does not serve visitors, nor does it have infrastructure for public use.

The Cerro Poqui sector is inserted in the priority site for conservation called La Roblería/Cordillera de la Costa Norte and Cocalán.
This area is inserted in the Mediterranean forests of central Chile, a sector recognized for its biodiversity.
There are some 2,500 species, of which 50% are endemic to Chile and 25% are exclusive to the central Mediterranean region.
In addition, there is a large number of endemic insects, without a doubt an excellent place to meet.
