Best bird watching trails in Halle

This hike leads around the Hufeisensee, a former mining pit in the east of Halle, which is now a popular local recreation area. The trail follows a well-maintained circular route, always within sight of the water. A particular highlight is the lake's eponymous horseshoe shape, which creates a varied backdrop with a central peninsula and wooded shoreline zones. Great crested grebes, coots and various species of gulls can be observed in the reed belts and on the water surfaces.
