Best hard trails in Dannenfels

This route climbs from Dannenfels to the summit of the Donnersberg, the highest peak in the Palatinate. Dense forests of beech and oak cover the slopes, passing stands of sweet chestnut trees. The path leads to the Ludwigsturm, a stone tower built in the 19th century, and the Königsstuhl rhyolite rock formation. Sections follow the Celtic ring wall, a massive fortification from an ancient settlement. The course serves as the route for the annual Donnersberg Trail run.
